This All Started with Carsharing: Mapping the Shared Mobility Ecosystem - #SUMC2022 Breakout Panel

Seminar
2022

Description

Mary Ferguson (Program Manager, Shared-Use Mobility Center) moderated this panel on carsharing with Arnd Bätzner (Member of the Board of Directors, Mobility CarSharing), Justin Romeo (Director of Special Projects, Regional and Strategic Planning, New York City Department of Transportation), Peter Krahenbuhl (CEO & Executive Director, Colorado CarShare) and Justin Holmes (Vice President, Marketing and Public Policy, Zipcar).
Carsharing was the first formal shared mobility operator in the United States to push the narrative of fewer cars on the road, greater mobility access for all, and reduced carbon emissions. Since its inception, new players in shared mobility have come to the fore, adding to the menu of shared mobility options. How do these old and new providers work together to form a stronger, shared mobility network, together? This conversation will share examples of how different partnerships have multiplied the efforts of any single provider, and the role of carsharing as a connector. It will end with a discussion on how we help the user understand these choices.
